Reasons from L*****************
The elevation of China’s global influence and international status is driven by its national comprehensive strength. The role of economics is vital in various societies, which is closely related to our daily lives and represents the whole strength of a nation. Even though I was abroad, I still keep a close eye on the developing situation of my motherland. Not content with just acting as a spectator reading the economic news, I aim at becoming an insider who can analyse and interpret the economic trend and make a contribution. The application for your distinguished programme will help me realise my dream.
Currently, I am serving in the Singaporean army with 10 months left. The position is Finance Clerk of the Unit, taking responsibility for performing a variety of financial administrative tasks, such as preparing and processing transactions, reviewing financial documents, reporting financial information and following the order or the authority to purchase materials, etc. This experience endows me with familiarity with financial databases and records, account reconciliations, and capital operating of a unit. I also take charge of logistics support to ensure the material supply and complete administrative work. I have trained a mathematical and analytical mind and attention to detail to ensure accuracy and strictness. I also learned practical skills, such as operating the military procurement system, negotiating purchase prices with suppliers, etc. This experience was a challenge for me at first since I have to adapt to a different environment as a new graduate. There were obstacles and mistakes, but I quickly learned the techniques of administration work in the armed forces, management style and culture, and office etiquette and improved my soft skills. I am gradually being competent in my new position.
This experience which trained my adaptability, persistence, and cross-cultural awareness will consolidate my efforts to overcome the difficulties in the following study at Fudan University. Needless to mention Fudan occupying top position in Chinese universities and enjoying international reputation in terms of quality of teaching, Shanghai has been the economic, financial and trade centre of China since ancient times. The name of Fudan represents the pursuit of light, liberty and reviving China. Its motto “rich in knowledge and tenacious of purposes, inquiring with earnestness and reflecting with self-practice” is in line with my life criteria, aiming at learning from an extensive perspective, expanding the scope of knowledge, establishing a great ambition, and firmly and persistently achieving the goal. My working experience has proven my willpower and I sincerely hope that I can upgrade my academic ability.
Guided by world-class faculty with a global academic background, I will study with excellent students from all over the world, to understand modern economic theories and apply advanced analysis methods such as quantitative analysis and technical means to keep pace with the fast-changing economic landscape. I will make an intensive analysis of the economic policy in China and grasp the trends of the international economic situation. My former learning experience has taught me basic economics and through participating in Model United Nations CISSMUN Shanghai, I established professional research skills to investigate local culture, economics and society and propose improvement policy to specific country. My teamwork spirit, leadership and organization skills will enrich campus life since I have led my basketball team to excel in the CISA championships and organized diverse school activities. The learning experience at Fudan University will turn a new page of my life.
